Quinta de Cartemil is a beautiful restored farm house located in Northern of Portugal, at the heart of the Lima valley. This romantic and charming rustic house is placed between the historical towns of Ponte de Lima and Ponte da Barca in the Gemieira village.
According to ancient documents, this farm house was built in 1632 by the Souza Menezes family, and still belongs to the same family. During the XIX century it belonged to DªMaria Ana de Calheiros de Menezez – Vizcountess of Maiorca – that later on left it in her will to a family member. Even today the older locals call the house “Quinta da Viscondessa” (Quinta of Vizcountess).
The current descendants and owners of Quinta de Cartemil Maria Clara and António Carlos de Vasconcelos Sousa e Menezes have completely renovate the house and the vineyards whose Vinho Verde is of excellent quality. With 4 spacious bedrooms, all with private bathroom, the Quinta de Cartemil is ideal for a family holiday getaway. The decor and the furnishings combine classic beauty with the contemporary comfort. From Quinta de Cartemil there are a range activities to practice distance some kms way Golfe course, horse riding, hiking visiting the market places, the historical villages, a prefect seat to discover the National Park Peneda Geres and Ponte de Lima known by the beauty of the river, the Minho gastronomic wealth, its architectural and cultural heritage.
