Located 6km from Ponte de Lima, next to the roman bridge of the River Estorãos, the Moinho de Estorãos invites you to a romantic stay on the middle of nature.
Estorãos is a small village from Minho where the stream that gives its name runs. The waters from the Arga mountain range go through pine trees, vineyards and fields, making small lakes where trout and lampreys hide from fishermen. On this magnificent landscape the blue sky, the dark shadow of the mountains contrast with the green fields and the autumn colours of the vineyards and the crops, making it very inviting to those that wish to walk among them and discover the rural beauties it hides.
From each side of the stream granite and modern houses form a small village connected by an old roman bridge. On the right side of the bridge, a stone mill with a wooden wheel stands like a sentinel on the calm waters.
This ancient Watermill that has been repurposed for rural tourism is an autonomous unit whit bedroom, kitchen and living room, all the while preserving a working mill and the waterwheel. The stone walls make it a rural environment with all the comforts of modern life. The furniture and the local objects from the region make it a tranquil country stay. On the visitors book we can read the testimonies of previous guests. The landscape surprises by its natural beauty and the clean air of the Arga mountain range.
Falling asleep with the silence of nature and waking up with the wheel of the mill on spinning the water stream and then starting to explore the hidden surprises on the region. Its build date is unknown bat it seems to be from around the ends of the XVIII century. In 1868 it was sold by the Count of Bertiandos to the family so they could use it to grind celery and woodcutting. Those activities stopped on 1965 and 1940 respectively. In 1983 it was rebuilt keeping its original looks, despite having its interior remodeled, so it could become a pleasant house.
Privileged by Nature the Moinho de Estorãos has gathered the attention of photographers, painters, film makers and other artists.
